Shahid Javed Burki Institute of Public Policy at NetSol in collaboration with Izhar & Associates Consulting ? Urban & Regional Planners have been working on the project for developing an Industrial Corridor Development Plan for Sialkot- Sambrial-Daska, as consultants of the Punjab Urban Unit. A team of researchers from the Urban Unit visited BIPP on 19 September 2019. During the joint discussion, the following points were agreed upon: A development plan needs to take into account the urban system as a whole rather than viewing it in a compartmentalized manner. A synchronized system is essential for the socio-economic prosperity of a region. There is a need to vigorously pursue an eco-system where science, technology, and innovation foster a localized innovation system. The nexus between business, government, private sector and universities can help in the development of a localized innovation system that boosts the economic growth of the region. District Sialkot historically presents an excellent example of citizen-synergy which should be fully harnessed through public-private-partnerships for optimizing development goals in the region. Gender mainstreaming, skills development, value addition and good governance should be fully integrated in design and implementation of industrial clusters in District Sialkot
